We're only a few weeks in to 2016, and it's already been a busy year for Ford Motor Company. They've already been making waves in the auto show scene, including the ongoing (January 11-24th) North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

President and CEO Mark Fields is quick to point out the headlines the company has been making just this month: "Ford's Future is Filled with Self-Driving Cars and Drones," "Ford partners with Amazon to connect cars with homes."

The buzz is deserved.

Ford may be the owner of the world's largest fleet of self-driving cars. Using the Ford Fusion as the base, Ford has 30 autonomous vehicles they will be testing in California, Arizona, and Michigan.

Another project involves integrating drones with SYNC, which can be used to aid the UN in scouting for survivors in disaster zones. The drones can even dock in the bed of the Ford F-150 for easy transport.

The automaker is also hard at work integrating Amazon Echo into their cars. Amazon Echo allows users to speak with an A.I. called "Alexa" to control various connected features of their home -- turning on lights, for instance.

With Ford-Echo integration, users would access even more utility through Alexa. One proposed feature to remotely check plug-in hybrid battery levels, something which will become more relevant as Ford brings 13 new electric models to market over the next four years.
