The new Ford Explorer announces its presence with a muscular, sculpted exterior. Every trim level features stylish LED headlamps, but the signature lighting on ST-Line, Active and ST trims adds an extra dose of attitude. Platinum models dazzle with satin aluminum accents while the performance-focused ST boasts blacked-out trim, special badging and red brake calipers. A variety of wheel designs, ranging from 18 to 21 inches, are available, from sparkle silver to carbonized gray to luster nickel finishes. An optional black painted roof provides a distinctive two-tone look.

Performance

Under the hood of the new Ford Explorer rests one of two powerful EcoBoost® engine options. The standard 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 300 horsepower, while the available 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine in ST models cranks out an impressive 400 horsepower. Both engines are paired with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. As you take I-5 back to Euguene, your Ford Explorer will earn 25 highway miles per gallon. Rear-wheel drive delivers a sportier driving character, but Intelligent 4WD is available to provide your Ford Explorer with enhanced traction. When properly equipped, the Ford Explorer can tow 5,000 pounds - perfect for hauling boats to the coast or campers to the mountains near Eugene.
