The Transfer Case: The Key to Maintaining Your All-Wheel Drive

If you have 4-wheel or all-wheel drive, have you ever felt that it would be difficult to imagine your life without it? It can be pretty nice to have if you ever get stuck on uneven roads, mud, or ice. Imagine if that capability on your car suddenly went out. That's exactly what can happen if your transfer case breaks.

What is a transfer case? It's the gearbox that shifts the weight in your vehicle from axle to axle when your wheel begins to slip. If a transfer case is beginning to fail, you will likely hear a grinding noise and feel the vibration. It is also likely that you will see oil leaking from underneath the vehicle. In order to avoid this, proper lubrication is necessary, and you should have it checked on a semi-regular basis.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, or you would simply like to know more about maintaining your vehicle, come over to our service center at Wilson Motors and we'd be happy to take a look at your vehicle and have a chat.
